The department offers the following courses approved by Anna University

 Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab
                         This lab is well equipped with all flow measurement devices and Hydraulic Machineries. It gives immense knowledge to excel the budding Engineers about the flow of fluids through different passages, turbine wheels and nozzles.

 Metrology lab
                         This lab is equipped with Floating carriage micrometer, Auto collimator, Comparators, Profile projector, etc
 

 Lathe shop

                         The prime aspect of this lab is to impart knowledge and training on various machines. It is so designed & equipped to create a Mechanical Engineer who is mentally & physically fit to apply these machines so as to mould his ideas and give them required shape. This workshop has 12 different lathes like Cone pulley type and All Geared Lathes

  Instrumentation and Dynamics lab
                         The laboratory is furnished with the instruments like Dynamic Balancing Machine infact not only balances the weights thereby stabilizing the machine but also balances the views and vision of all future Engineers. This lab has devices for measuring Pressure, Vacuum, Temperature, Power and Speed, apart from Balancing Machines, Gyroscopes, Whirling of shafts apparatus and related equipments
 

 Strength of Materials lab

                         The lab has equipments for testing materials for bending, shear, impact, hardness; torsion etc. and other robust equipments are also available

 Thermal Engineering Lab
                         The students perform experimental investigation in the following Test rigs of the Heat power and IC Engine cell. This lab has Two stroke & Four stroke Petrol Engines & Diesel Engines (single & multi cylinder) with Mechanical & Electrical loadings. Engine cut sections are available to demonstrate their working principles. This lab also has Refrigeration & Air conditioning tutors, wind tunnels, air compressors and air blowers. A mini steam boiler - Turbine test rig of 1KW capacity is under erection.
 

 Special Machines lab

  CAD/CAM & Robotics lab

                         Equipped with recent versions of modeling software like AutoCAD 2002, Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, Pro-E, IDEAS and Ansys 6.0 for Finite Element Analysis of static, dynamic, heat transfer and fluid flow. The CAM lab consists of Flexible Manufacturing System with CNC lathe, CNC Milling Machines along with necessary accessories and software for different controls. 35 computers with latest configuration are available to cater the needs in this area.

  Metallurgy Lab

                         Metals are the building blocks of any mechanical construction. This lab provides useful information to students about metals as well as efficient methods to diagnose the metal characteristics and capabilities

The students are given exposure on various Laboratories / Workshops to have hands on experience.
