The mission of the department is to provide high quality education beyond the Bachelor's degree in specific areas of Computer Science. The department promotes a rigorous, scholarly environment with strong cross-disciplinary links supporting world-class education, research and technical applications.

This courses hones the skills of highly competent graduates from various disciplines in the general fundamentals of computer application methodology, languages, tools and software development, followed by training in evolving applications in their specific areas of interest. At Master's level, a strong emphasis is placed on providing the flexibility required for responding to a rapidly changing technological environment.

Computer Science Lab

Computer Science department enjoys exclusive computer lab facilities. Structured networking concept is followed in the campus so that all the departments are internally connected. The department is provided with three separate laboratories, one exclusively for MCA and M.Sc., other for BCA and B.Sc., and the other for ancillary courses.

The computer centre is unique for its extensive hardware and software holdings, as well as for its State-of-the-Art modernity. These include

§ 10 P4 Servers (Novell Netware, Windows 2000, Linux 8.0)

§ UG Lab with 60 P3 866 MHz and 25 P3 450 MHz Clients

§ PG Lab with 60 P4 1.7 GHz and 30 P3 450 MHz Clients

Library

The thirst for knowledge can be quenched at library. The library is a vital adjunct of education, as it is the repository of available knowledge. The department has its own library with 800 titles, 11 journals and a separate digital library with a capacity of 400 CDs, to meet not only the curriculum needs, but also the requirements of references for any activity. The library is opened for 365 days a year from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm

Project based Training

The department attaches a great importance to student's project work of real-life significance. Students will be spending their summer holidays at the end of fourth semester and their entire sixth semester doing the projects.

Co-curricular activities

CONVERGE -2K2 - state level technical seminar on "XML and EMBEDDED SYSTEMS" was organized for the well doing of the students.

ASTOUND 2K3 - National level seminar on recent tends in Information technology was organized for the students in order to keep in pace with the existing field.

CLUSTERS 2K3 – National level technical symposium was organized by PG Association. More than 200 participants from 34 colleges participated.

Students will be attending various National/International level seminars all over India in order to get real time exposure around the IT world.

Adding a feather to the Hindusthan crown a separate division named "Sankee Info Systems Kovai Pvt Ltd" was floated by our management for the well being of the students thru which they get real-time software working exposure and have bright chances of "earn while learn"
